Brewer Blane D. Brewer, 82, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn. He served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force. He survived the bombing of Pearl Harbor at Wheeler Field and served in Europe providing air support for General Patton's ground troops during World War II. He also served in Korea and retired with the rank of chief master sergeant. He then worked for King Electric, a subcontractor for Eastman Chemical Company. Mr. Brewer was a member of Christ Methodist Church and a 32nd degree Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Wright Brewer; his parents, Robert and Mae Brewer; two brothers, Blake Brewer and Van Brewer; and two sisters, Sybil Rouse and Vera Rouse. He is survived by his son, Gary Brewer of Nashville; two sisters, Audrey Duffield of Roanoke and Phyllis Mayes of Atlanta; a brother, Veldon Brewer of Bristol; a grandson, Matthew Brewer, and a granddaughter, Katherine Brewer, both of Nashville. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the graveside in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock Saturday morning at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home prior to the service. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Patton-Crosswhite V.F.W.
