SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Roby S. Calhoun, wife Anna "Sis" Duckworth Calhoun, and Dewey Lawson, Sr., 14 Mar 1933 ----¤¤¤---- R.S. Calhoun is Roby S. Calhoun (1874-1933). Roby was the son of Barnabas B. Calhoun & Rachel Osborne. He was born in Mitchell now Avery County, NC. He moved to Kingsport, Tennessee area before 1920. Mrs. R. S. Calhoun was Anna "Sis" Duckworth Calhoun (c1884-1933). This obituary appeared in The Kingsport Times edition of March 15, 1933. All three were killed when the tornado struck on March 14, 1933. FUNERALS FOR 3 VICTIMS PLANNED Services arranged for Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Calhoun and Dewey Lawson. Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Calhoun, and Dewey Lawson, Sr., all victims of the terrific windstorm last night, have been arranged for tomorrow. Arrangements for the funeral of Tate G. Crockett, another victim had not been made. Services for Mr. and Mrs. Calhoun will be conducted at the West View Baptist Church tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. Rev. F.T. Carroll of Bulls Gap, Tenn., will be in charge. The bodies will be buried in the family cemetery, near Clouds Springs. Services for Mr. Lawson will be conducted at the West View Methodist church tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Sullins Dosser will be in charge. Burial will be in the city cemetery.
