A native of Sullivan County, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Emily Glover Hicks. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Combs was a member of the Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church, Bluff City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Berson Combs in 1991, three sisters; and three brothers. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence and Virginia Combs, Kenneth and June Combs, Jack and Betty Combs and Ralph and Joyce Combs, all of Bluff City; grandchildren, Barbara Leonard, Sue McGee, Wanda Brazewll, Lewis Combs, Kim Clark and Mike Combs; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Orville Hicks, Morristown, Tenn., and Herman Hicks, Romeo, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, March 21, in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home-Bluff City with Rev. David Tidings and Rev. Steve Hensley officiating. The graveside service and interment will be conducted Saturday, March 22, at 11 a.m. in Chinquapin Grove Cemetery. Those who plan to attend the graveside are requested to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession together. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, March 21, from 6-8 p.m. in the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home- Bluff City. To those who desire, memorial donations may be made to the Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 1489 Walnut Grove Road, Bluff City, TN 37618.
