Mrs. Cox was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, Tenn. She was a member of the Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center Auxiliary and Temple Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Nathan and Pearl Chase Hale and was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Clifford Cox on July 13, 1989; sister, Oneida Bowser; and an infant grandson. Surviving are two sons, Wade Cox and wife Peggy, Gray, Tenn., S.G. Cox, Kingsport; five grandchildren, Carolyn LaChance, Tommy Cox, Danny Cox, Sonja Crowe and Miles Cox; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Hubert (Ruby) Strickler, Kingsport; two brothers, Martin Hale and Reed Hale, both of Jonesborough, Tenn. Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport. Service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in the Hamlett-Dobson Chapel with Rev. Bobby Russell and Rev. Hartsel McCurry officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tommy Cox, Danny Cox, Miles Cox, David Hale, Lee Bowser, Don Christian, Eddie Larkins and Dobbins Fleming. Honorary pallbearers will be Scot Fleming, Don Cox, Harold Norris, Rick Norris and Charles Hunley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 3100, Kingsport, TN 37664 or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 985, Kingsport, TN 37662.
