He was a native of Bristol Virginia and was the son of Bill and Glenna O'Dell Cross. He had lived in Baltimore before moving back to the Bristol area in 1972. He attended Fellowship Chapel and was an avid softball player, playing for Holston Valley Texaco. Survivors include: wife, Yolanda Lynn Gilmer Cross; children, Daniel and Kayla Cross; sisters, Kathy Patrick and husband Rick, and Lisa Smith and husband Mike; brother, Gary W. Cross and wife Janice; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2002, at Fellowship Chapel with Rev. Scott Price and Rev. Lester MacKinnon officiating. Interment will follow at Eastern Heights Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Weaver Funeral Home.
