Vanover KINGSPORT -- Curtis B. Vanover, 71, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at his home. He was a retired master sergeant, a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Air Force and was a retired employee of Tennessee Eastman of Kingsport. He was of the Freewill Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sullivan M. and Cosy Jane Belcher Vanover; and two brothers, Ray Vanover and Joseph Vanover. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Vanover of Kingsport; two brothers, Robert Vanover and Jack Vanover, both of Wise; three sisters, Trula Hensley of Indianapolis, Gay Hall of Marion, Ind., and Jean Stanley of California; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Thursday at Sturgill Funeral; Home Chapel, Wise, with Rev. Gene Jennings officiating. Entombment will be held at noon Friday at East Lawn Funeral Home Cemetery, Kingsport, with military rites being conducted by American Legion Post 3 of Kingsport and 265 of Gate City. The family will receive friends 5 p.m. until time of services at 7 p.m. Thursday at Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise. Sturgill Funeral Home, Wise, is in charge of arrangements.
