Cartwright BLOUNTVILLE -- Clarence Houts Cartwright, 92, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mr. Cartwright was a native and life long resident of the Sullivan County area. He was a retired employee of Tennessee Eastman with 38 years of service. Mr. Cartwright was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Selma Elizabeth Cartwright; his parents, Charles and Katherine Cartwright; and one son, Clarence Cartwright Jr. He was a member of the Blountville United Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Judy C. Watson of Blountville; daughter and son-in-law, Judy C. and David Watson, Blountville; three granddaughters and their husbands, Deborah and Alan Alvis, Jennifer and Anthony Branch and Melissa and Robert Miller, all of Blountville; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Miller, Haley Branch, Tyler Branch and Matthew Alvis; and one sister, Thelma Winfield of Kingsport. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, in the Gunnings Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Bible Class of the Blountville United Methodist Church, J.C. Akard, Lawrence Garland, Dr. Edwin Quinn, John I. Cox, Edley Hicks, Jim Dishner and Bill Akard. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Blountville United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3390 Highway 126, Blountville, TN 37617.
