Davis KINGSPORT -- William Edwin "Bill" Davis, 69, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2003 at Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center after an extended illness. Born in War, W.Va., he had lived most of his life in Columbia, S.C., after retiring from the U.S. Air Force with over 20 years of service. Mr. Davis had resided in Kingsport for the past 10 years. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Westview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cornelia Bowers Davis; one son, Johnny Walker Davis; parents, Thomas and Lottie Davis; two brothers, Charlie Walter Davis and Jack Davis; and sister, Mabel Marie Compton. Surviving are his wife, Marlene M. Davis of the home; daughter, Mrs. Michael (Sharon) Whitehurst, Kyle, Texas; stepdaughter, Anicia Bragg, Boca Raton, Fla.; grandson, Randy Ortega, Kyle, Texas; granddaughter, Brett Davis, Bedford, Texas; sisters, Lucille Brewer, Kingsport and Mrs. Bill (Mary) Lane, Kingsport; brothers, Roy Daris and wife Ramona, Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Bobby Joe and wife Debbie, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown.
