Helms BLOUNTVILLE -- Delmar H. Helms, 72, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at Bristol Wellmont Hospice House following an extended illness. Born in Marshall County, Ala., he was the son of the late Elbert and Annie Helms. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Blountville. He was employed as a truck driver, working many years at Mason Dixon and retired from ABF Freight Lines. He was a dedicated teamster member. Mr. Helms was a proud veteran of the Korean war and a loving husband and father who will be missed. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Molene of Blountville; three sons, Terry and wife Patricia of Blountville, Phillip and wife Polly of Union, Ky., and Todd and wife Rebecca of Madison, Wis.; one brother, Nathaniel and wife Charlotte of Altoona, Ala.; one sister, Ruth Yance of Nixon Chapel, Ala.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Blountville with Dr. Clay Austin and Rev. Leland Houser officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. A military graveside service conducted by American Legion Post 3/265 will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandson, Joshua Helms, and friends of the family. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Wellmont Hospice House of Bristol, 280 Steele's Road, Bristol, TN 37620 or to First Baptist Church of Blountville, 3358 Highway 126, Blountville, TN.
