"Jim" Ford James W. "Jim" Ford, 75, 1706 Gap Creek Road, Elizabethton, died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Ford was a native of Sullivan County and a son of the late Jess Winston and Bernie Cox Ford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Taylor Ford, November 22, 2005, two sisters, Shirley Ford and Edith Wiseman, and two brothers, J.B. Ford and Roy Ford. Mr. Ford had lived most of his life in Carter County. He was a retired painter and a member of Zion Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Melton Patterson, of Texas; three grandchildren, Robert Chris Carroll Jr., Tiffany Renee Patterson and Thomas Wayne Patterson; a great-granddaughter, Aiyana Marie Carroll; several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Phoebe Ford and Georgia Ford, both of Elizabethton. Funeral services for Mr. Ford will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, May 8, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. C.W. Snodgrass officiating. Music will be provided by Sonny Gouge and Hunter Berry. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the Tennessee National Guard. Active pallbearers will be Mike Odom, Aaron Bowers, Gary Ford, Chris Carroll, Thomas Patterson and Donnie Jones. The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to his relatives and friends for their care and concern. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to go to the cemetery.
