She was born Aug. 26, 1914, in Glade Spring, Va., the daughter of the late Ben W. and Lena Copenhaver Clark. Mildred was a resident of Kingsport for 65 years with her life centered on her family and community. She catered and directed weddings for several years and was a member of the Virginia Club, Dixie Study Club and Iris Garden Club. She was an active and faithful member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Blake Faris (1977); and her two brothers, Garland F. Clark and C. Ernest Clark. Mildred will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Patty Faris, Kingsport; and two granddaughters, Paige Faris, Kingsport and Holly Faris Franklin and husband, Greg, Knoxville. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, and any time at her home. Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with The Reverend Gary R. Bement officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Old Glade Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 1593 Warpath Drive, Kingsport, TN 37664 or to Wellmont Hospice Program, P.O. Box 238, Kingsport, TN 37662 or to The Humane Society of Greater Kingsport, 2141 Idle Hour Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.
