Greene Sr. BLUFF CITY -- George Edward Greene Sr., 85, of 421 Old Weaver Pike, went to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, Tenn. Arrangements are incomplete. Weaver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Bristol Herald Courier Thursday, January 2, 2003 George E. Greene Sr. BLUFF CITY -- George Edward Greene Sr., 85, went to be with our Lord Jesus, Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, after a brief illness. Mr. Greene was born July 5, 1917, to the late Jesse and Ossie Newton Greene and was also preceded in death by a sister, Cosby N. Greene; and two brothers, J.S. Greene and Toy Greene. He was an electrician by trade and lifelong resident of Bluff City. Mr. Greene was a member of Holston Baptist Church, a veteran of World War II, and a member of the Zollicoffer Lodge 444 Order of the Masons. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rosetta Cox Greene; two sisters, Helen Henson, Bluff City and Jesse Lee Broyles, Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 children, George Greene Jr., Jesse (Mike) Greene, Helen Greene Harris, Betty Clevenger, Johnny I. Greene, Sharon Greene Smith, Shelia Greene Patrick, Ronnie A. Greene, Karen Greene Morrell and Sherry Greene Grubb; 14 grandchildren, John Greene, Brett Greene, Ivy Greene, Aaron Greene, Justin Greene, Brandy Greene, Travis Patrick, Angela Patrick, J.T. Patrick, Albrey Morrell Scott, Brooke Morrell, Casey Morrell, Chase Grubb and Meagan Grubb; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Haynes Watson and Dr. Roy Branson officiating. Masonic services will follow the chapel service with Zollicoffer Masonic Lodge 444. Committal services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Crumley Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Highlands Fellowship Veterans Honor Color Guard. Pallbearers will be Johnny Webb, Jimmy Webb, Doug Cox, Roger Cox, Omer Smith, Bill Carr and Guy Rosenbalm. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, John Greene, Aaron Greene, Brett Greene, Justin Greene, Travis Patrick and Chase Grubb; brothers-in-law, Bill Broyles, Joe Cox Jr., John Cox, Herbert Cox, Fred Cox, Freeman Cox and Adron Cox; and close friends, Preston Nichols and Webb O'Dell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holston Baptist Church, c/o Janet Rhymer, 275 Old Weaver Pike, Bluff City, TN 37618.
