Gross BLOUNTVILLE -- William Howard Gross, 70, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mr. Gross was a member of Blountville United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and greeter. He was a member of the church council, a former trustee, a past president of the United Methodist Men, a member of the Young at Heart and of the Bethany Sunday School Class. He was retired from the Organic Chemical Division of Eastman Chemical Company after 34 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Military Police. Mr. Gross was preceded in death by his mother, Cecile Hensley, and father, Jessee R. Gross; a sister; and a very special mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Droke. Mr. Gross is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Droke Gross; a sister- in-law, Martha Steel; a brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Linda Droke; the following nieces and nephews: Holly Hardin, Laura Steel, Brett Steel, Shannon Jones, Mark Droke and Mike Droke; the following special cousins: Hazel Snodgrass, Iris Ellis. W.T. Kyle Jr., Don and Jane Rutledge, Naomi Franklin, Dale and Virginia Harr, Kathleen Collins, W.K. Rutledge and Wayne Rutledge; an aunt and uncle, John and Bonnie Harr; and a special friend, Mary Houston. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in Blountville Untied Methodist Church with Rev. John Anderson and Rev. James C. Henry officiating. Burial will follow in Gunnings Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brett Steel, Webb Snodgrass, William Rosenbaum, Don Rutledge, Harold Shipley, Mark Droke, Richard Henry, Steve Crain and Clarence Blackburn. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Bruce Vincent, Dr. Brian Armstrong, J.C. Akard, Carroll Kirby and the members of the Bethany Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart Group.
