Hammitt KINGSPORT - Rabon Lee "Casey" Hammitt, 61, died Sunday evening, Dec. 8, 2002, at his home after an apparent heart attack. Born in Washington County, Va., he had resided in Kingsport most of his life. Mr. Hammitt served four years in the U.S. Army. He was employed with Applied Industrial Technologies where he worked in sales for many years. Mr. Hammitt was a member of First Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory L. Hammitt and Pauline Harrison; and sister, Meta Charlene "Topper" Hammitt. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Bobby Massie, Candler, N.C.; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Tammy Hammitt, Kingsport; three grandchildren, Brittany and Payton Hammitt, Jacob Massie; former wife, Kay Hammtit, Kingsport; stepmother, Edith Hammitt, Gray; two sisters, Nancy Gardner, Weber City and Carol Jones, Kingsport; stepsister, Rita Hammitt, Gray; brother, James Hammitt, Dublin, Ohio; stepbrother, Curtis Hammitt, Gray; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 5-7 p.m.Tuesday at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home, downtown, or any time at the home of Kay Hammitt, 1359 Lafayette Circle. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Clay Austin officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Oak Hill Cemetery.
