Hickman Earl V. "Cotton" Hickman, 72, of 973 Meadowview Road, Bristol, Tenn., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late George and Myrtle Slagle Hickman and was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area. He was retired from the Sullivan County Highway Department and was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW. Survivors include sisters, Lillian Leonard of the home, Hazel Dishner of Bristol Tennessee, Georgia Weatherly of Bristol Virginia, Shelby Ketron and husband Conley of Bristol Virginia, Ruth Seats of Bluff City and Coleen Feathers of Johnson City; brothers, Hobert Hickman and wife Ruby of Bristol Tennessee, Hal Hickman and wife Katherine of Bristol Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Graybeal. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Joe Wheeler and Rev. D.A. Cunningham officiating. Committal services will be held on Friday at Dishner Cemetery at 1 p.m. Honorary pallbearers include Conley Ketron, Brian Ketron, Greg Ketron, Dean Weatherly, Cecil Castle and Ronnie Seats. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Patton-Crosswhite Post 6975. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-7:45 p.m. prior to the service.
