She was married to William Robert Housewright, son of John Wiley and Margaret Phillips Housewright. CHURCH HILL----Emma Christian Housewright, 90, Route 8, Church Hill, died at 9 p.m. Friday at Indian Path Hospital after a long illness. A lifelong resident of Church Hill, she was a member of Mt. Vernon Primitive Baptist Church since the mid-1940s, where she had served three generations as a Sunday school Teacher. She was predeceased by her husband, William Robert Housewright. Surviving are one daughter, Mary Kate Persinger, Church Hill; six sons, Willard Housewright, Wiley Housewright, Wayne Housewright, Tom Housewright, Clint Housewright all of Church Hill and Blaine Housewright, Fall Branch; one stepson, Robert Guy Housewright, Church Hill; 21 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Arnold, Indian Springs and Kate Christian, Church Hill; and four brothers, Dan Christian, Missouri, John Christian, Kingsport, Jack Christian, Church Hill and James Christian, Bristol. Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home in Church Hill and at the home of a daughter, Mary Kate Persinger, Route 8, Church Hill. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Roger Dinsmore officiating. Burial will be in Elm Springs Cemetery in Church Hill.
