SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Della Clay Bowery Jones, 1 May 1914 ----¤¤¤---- The following is a copy of an article found in a small Bible which belonged to Sarah Alice (Rookstool) Bowery: Della (possibly Bella) Clay (Bowery) Jones was born in Sullivan County, Tennessee March 29, 1882. She departs this life May 1 1914. She leaves to mourn her departure a father, A.T. Bowery, two children, Robert Cecil Jones, age 6 and Dovie Mae Jones, age 4. Her brothers, four in number. James, Fleetwood, Chester and Finney and two sisters Cora Fosset and Dora Kain all of whom were present at the funeral. She was united in marriage to C.P. Jones at Bristol, Tenn. being separated from him August 1913. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Tenn. She was taken sick last November being very patient in her sufferings. She bore it all with Christian fortitude. It was her wish to get well so as to take care of her family. The last days of her life she talked about dying with great calmness saying to her friends not to grieve for her as all is well with her being perfectly resigned to the will of the Divine Father. The services were conducted by the writer at the home. We pray the God of Heaven to grant grace sufficient to the needs of those who mourn the departed and be a father to the orphan children. The body was laid to rest in the Watkins Cemetery until the great resurrection day then she will be raised a spiritual body. W.M.
