Stanley McCracken E. Stanley McCracken, 97, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at Greystone Healthcare Center. He was a native of Benhams, Va., and had resided in Bristol, Big Stone Gap and Norton. He was the son of the late Isaac Melvin and Lilly N. Lewis McCracken and was also preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Hartsock McCracken; and a son, Bobby McCracken. Mr. McCracken retired from Southern Railroad, where he had been an engineer for over 50 years. He was a member of Gum Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Louise Kennedy of Bristol Virginia, and Judy Bryant of Clintonsville, W.Va.; two sons, Jennings McCracken of Virginia Beach, Va., and Ricky McCracken of Big Stone Gap; one sister, Grace Leonard of Bristol Virginia; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the graveside in Susong Cemetery with the Rev. Lester MacKinnon officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, great-grandsons and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Akard Funeral Home.
