Messimer BLUFF CITY -- Georgia L. Messimer, 88, of 1138 Old Elizabethton Highway, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at NHC Healthcare, Johnson City, following a brief illness. A native of Sullivan County, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Blanche Woods Arrants. Mrs. Messimer was a member of First Christian Church of Bluff City and attended Avoca Christian Church. She was a quilter at Bluff City Senior Citizens. In addition to her parents and husband, John Ray Messimer, she was preceded in death by a son, John Ray Messimer Jr., who died in 1953; three brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include one son, Eugene P. Messimer of Salem, Ohio; one daughter, Nell Messimer of Bluff City; two brothers, Albert Arrants of Bristol Tennessee, and Earl O'Dell of Bluff City; four sisters, Lee Engeldorf, Trula Turner, Kate Luster and Nina Rhinehardt, all of Bluff City; three grandchildren, Doug Messimer of Salem, Ohio, and Theresa Aubrey and Debbie Messimer, both of Elizabethton; three great- grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2002, from the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home-Bluff City Chapel with Ministers Bob Robinson and Richard Kirkland officiating. Music by Crossroads Church of Christ, Gray, Tenn. Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bud Taylor, John A. Utsman, Jimmy Messimer, Jim Rhinehardt, Jerry Rhinehardt and Jared Rhinehardt. Those who wish to attend the graveside are requested to meet at the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2002, to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2002, from the chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home-Bluff City.
