Nienast PINEY FLATS -- Cassie Mooney Nienast went home to be with her Lord Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, in the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. Cassie was born Dec. 4, 1929, in Tookland, Va., a daughter of the late Buby Jackson and Arminty Jane (Dales) Mooney. She was married to the late Robert M. Nienast. She was retired from the Sullivan County School System after 20 years of service, where she worked as a custodian. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Fall Branch and a member of the Senior Citizens of Pulaski. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Florence Shipley, Mary Conner, Naomi Buchanan, Pearly Mooney and Beulah Randolph; and four brothers, Henry, Arvil, Louis and Robert Mooney. Cassie is survived by two daughters, Nancy Nienast of Piney Flats and Roberta Morrow of Pulaski, Tenn.; sons, James E. Mooney, Robert M. Nienast Jr., Vernon W. Nienast and Edward Q. Nienast; a sister, Elsie Mooney of Bristol; a brother, Dewey Mooney of Kingsport; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel and any time at the home of her brother, Dewey Mooney. Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Wednesday in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Harold Wayne Boswell officiating. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Church of Christ Cemetery of Fall Branch, Fordtown Road. Pallbearers will be Ralph Mooney, Scottie Sexton, Frank Meadows, Patrick Nienast, James Nienast and Pete Atchley. Condolence may be sent at elawnfuneralhome@aol.com.
