SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Kenny L. Proffitt, 12 May 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Kenny L. Proffitt, 78, Fox Hollow Lane, Bluff City, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Sullivan County, he was a son of the late Willard and Lula Walker Proffitt. He was a retired foreman with Summer-Taylor, having worked there for 50 years. He attended the Cripple Creek Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Proffitt was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Proffitt, on June 22, 1997. Survivors include three daughters, Fredia J. Snow, of Decatur, Tenn.; Judy Fagan, of the home, and Nancy Dalton, of Rockwood, Tenn.; a son, Tommy Proffitt, Watauga; three sisters, Lucille Wallace, Clara Steel and Jewel Rader, all of Bristol; two brothers, Palmer Proffitt, of Platsburg, Mo., and Gene Proffitt, Greeneville; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2004 in the Scott Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Campbell officiating. Burial will follow the service. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Friday will be Kevin Sharp, Harvey Crusenberry, Everett Waldrop, Jackie McLaney, J.D. Smith and Kevin Bobrosky. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence McLaney, Bill Taylor, Nat Proffitt, John Shepherd, Lloyd Proffitt and the staff of the 4th floor ICU, Johnson City Medical Center. The family would like to express a special "thank you" to Bill Taylor for his many acts of kindness he did for Kenny and the family. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2004 in the funeral home. Friends may also call at his residence.
