Mr. Roberts was born on Dec. 16, 1945, in Sullivan County, Tenn. Mr. Roberts attended Holston High School and received his GED while in the Army. While serving his country, Mr. Roberts did a tour of duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. He had lived in Florida most of his adult life. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents, James and Euna Turner Roberts, and a brother-in-law, Larry Blalock, recently deceased husband of Marion Blalock. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Paul and Shelly Roberts and Sean David and Christy Roberts, both of Williston, Fla; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Denver Kitzmiller, Kingsport, Marian Blalock and Paulette and Steve Everroad, all of Blountville, and Diana Roberts, Church Hill; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Claudia Roberts, Jonesborough, Stanley and Marcelena Roberts, Bluff City, Dwight and Phyllis Roberts, Gray, and David and Beverly Roberts, Church Hill; five grandchildren; three aunts and an uncle, Eileen Collins, Kingsport, Wanda McCormick, Pascagoula, Miss., and Vernon and Virginia Widener, Kingsport, and several nieces and nephews. The graveside and committal service for Mr. Roberts will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in the National Cemetery, Mountain Home, Tenn., with Rev. Steve Everroad officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Charles DeWitt Byrd VFW Post 3382 of Kingsport. The family will have a private visitation at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Monday. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:25 a.m. Monday, to go in procession to Mountain Home. The Roberts family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to the Military Color Guard, VFW Post 3382, 721 Union Hill, Kingsport, TN 37660.
