A native of Carter County, he was the son of Ann Lyons Malone, Bluff City and the late Ira Malone. He was a member of Bunker Hill Christian Church. Mr. Sams was a diesel mechanic. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Curtis Malone,Terry Sams, Buddy Sams, Worley Sams and Ted Sams. Survivors include one brother, Dallas Sams, Bluff City; one sister, Joann Allen Sams, Bluff City; nephews and spouses, Jeff and Tara Allen, Elizabethton, David Allen of Bluff City, and Wayne and Wendy Sams, Elizabethton; niece, Patty Hicks, Bluff City; very special niece and nephews, Katlyn Allen, Bluff City, Caleb Allen, Elizabethton, Isaac Allen, Bluff City, Trevor Guy, Elizabethton and Josh Sams, Elizabethton; very special friends, Ed and Opal Wolfe, Bluff City and Ernie and Francis Depew, Bluff City. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Bunker Hill Christian Church with Mr. Ernie Depew, Minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Sandy Odom, soloist. Interment will follow the funeral service at Jones Cemetery, Bluff City. Military honors to be accorded by Capt. Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post 2166. Active pallbearers will be Allen Odom, Steve Sams, Herman Rumley, Ronald Scalf, Jason Miller and Billy Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Bunker Hill Christian Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace or residence any time. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Bunker Hill Christian Church Building Fund, 491 Bunker Hill Road, Bluff City,TN 37618.
