Buckles Road, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 27, 2007, at her residence following a brief illness. A native of Sullivan County, she had spent most of her life in Carter County. Addie was a daughter of the late Christopher and Effie Sexton Oliver. She was a homemaker who was a wonderful mom. She loved to cook and enjoyed quilting and collecting teapots. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Taylor, and a son, Jeffery Glen Taylor. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-laws, Linda and Al Basey of Daisytown, Pa., Wilma Taylor of Elizabethton, Edith and Tim Canter of Elizabethton and Mary and Lawrence Boone of Watauga; two sons and a daughter- in-law, Clifford and LaVerne Taylor of Richfield, Ohio, and Steve Taylor of Elizabethton; and two sisters, Lula Colbaugh and Juanita Oliver, both of Elizabethton. Nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three nieces also survive. A funeral service for Mrs. Taylor will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Heaton and Rev. Mark Street officiating. Music will be under the direction of Mrs. Marty Buchanan. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, or at the residence, 127 A.O. Buckles Road, Elizabethton, at other times. A graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, in the Blevins Cemetery in the Stoney Creek Community. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to travel together in procession. Active pallbearers will be her son, Clifford Taylor, as well as Al Basey, Tim Canter, Seth Taylor, Gary Arnold, Steve Lovegrove, Doug Rasnick and Lawrence Boone. The family would like to give a very special thank you to Dr. Ray Lamb, Dr. James Shipley and the Cancer Center at JCMCH for their loving care given to Mrs. Taylor during her illness.
