Slagle Thomas Ensor Slagle, 78, of 711 College Ave., Bristol, Tenn., died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Wellmont Hospice House. He was born a son of the late Burley and Janie Slagle, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a former employee of the City of Bristol Tennessee and a retired employee of the Bristol Tennessee School System. He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Marie Slagle, in June 2002, and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James H. (Barbara) Gentry of Bristol Tennessee; four sons, Bobby E. Slagle of Church Hill, Tenn., James T. Slagle of Lake Charles, La., and Fred W. Slagle and Garry Slagle, both of Bristol Tennessee; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Guy Homer Slagle of Bristol Virginia, who was his best friend; Bill Slagle of Blountville; and Bob Slagle of Bristol Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Chapel of Blevins Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Bowery and Rev. Johnny Dillard officiating. The committal service and burial will follow in MountainVeiw Cemetery with military rites presented by VFW Post 6975 Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Price, Rex Gentry, Tommy Webb, Jerry Fricker, Roy Fricker, Roger Fricker and Mike Blair. The family will receive friends from 6-8 o'clock Saturday evening at Blevins Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Barbara and Jim Gentry.
