Whitaker SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Alvin Leslie Whitaker, 56, died Saturday, March 15, 2003. He was born in Bristol Virginia on Sept. 22, 1946, the son of Okie Mobley Whitaker and the late Henry Whitaker. He had lived in Spartanburg for the last several years. In addition to his mother, Okie M. Whitaker of Bristol Virginia, he is survived by a son, Brian W. Whitaker; two sisters, Joanna Reynolds of King, N.C., and Janice Luttrell of Kernersville, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon, March 20, at Blevins Funeral Home with burial to follow in Susong Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 o'clock Wednesday evening at Blevins Funeral Home.
