Moore Willie B. "Beardie" Moore, 81, of 2151 Fifth St., Bristol, Tenn., went to be with his Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, after a long battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Meridia Willis and Elizabeth Rhea Moore. He was retired from Raytheon and, along with his brother, was co-owner in various area businesses. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was highly decorated for his service to our country during World War II. Mr. Moore fought on the beaches of Normandy and received two Purple Hearts and numerous other medals. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, DAV and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Lee Moore. Survivors include: daughters, Evelyn Bray of Bristol Tennessee, Joy Whitaker of Atlanta, Susie McNally of Bristol Tennessee, Debbie Smith of Bristol Tennessee, Mickey Hogan of Bluff City and Sheri Layher of Johnson City; grandchildren, April Grubbs, Lee Ann Whitaker Gunnell, Jared Whitaker, John Hogan Jr., Matt Hogan, Brad Smith and Brian Layher Jr.; great- grandchildren, Rusty Grubbs, Kindra Grubbs and Kora Edin Gunnell; sister, Ruby McCrickard of Bel Air, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. Celebration of life services will be held on Friday at 6 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Haynes officiating. Committal services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery with military honors presented by the VFW Patton-Crosswhite Post 6975. Honorary pallbearers include Jared Whitaker, John Hogan Jr., Matt Hogan and Brad Smith. The family will receive friends on Friday following the service and other times at the home of Evelyn Bray, 421 Wimberly Circle, Bristol, Tenn.
