All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/tn/tnfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Janet King JPerdue192@aol.com February 14, 2009, 12:11 am Written: October 2, 1866 Recorded: October 3, 1866 I Lee Perdue have this day bargained and sold and do hereby transfer and convey to Adaline Chittwood and her hairs forever for the consideration of fifteen hundred dollars of which eleven hundred and eighty four dollars & ninety cents is paid in a decree in the Chancery Court of Sumner County against Isaac Watwood which has this day him assigned to me a tract of land in Sumner County Tennessee District No 16 bounded as follows, Beginning Corner of a new(?)acre Jerry Ramsey south to a post oak Thomas Perdue & North West corner thence East to a stake D. G. Perdue corner thence North to two chestnut sprouts, thence west to a stone D. G. Perdue & south west corner thence to a Black Jack James Martins corner thence West to the beginning containing one hundred and sixty acres more or less except the one acre on the west line where W. E. Perdue built and lived the said one acre having heretofore been given by me to said W. E. Perdue is not now conveyed to have and to hold the said land to the said Adeline Chittwood her heirs and assigns forever I do convenant with the said Adeline Chittwood that I am lawfully seized of the land and have a good Right to convey it and that the same is unencumbered I do further convenant and bind myself, my heirs and Representatives to warrant and defend the tile to the land above conveyed to the said Adeline Chittwood her heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons But it is indentured and agreed that I retain a lien upon the above conveyed land until the eleven hundred eighty four dollas and ninety cents above spoken of is paid to me and that said land is bound to me for the payment of said lien this the 2nd day of Oct 1866. Lee Perdue State of Tennessee Sumner County Personally appeared before me John L. Bugg clerk of the county court of said county Lee Perdue the bargainer with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that he made and executed the foregoing deed for the purposes therein contained. Helson Redg Additional Comments: Lee Perdue was son of Daniel and Prudence Ward Perdue. W.(Wm) E. Perdue was his son who had died in August of 1866. Adaline (Perdue) Chittwood was the daughter of Eli and Sally (Chitwood) Perdue. Lee and Adaline were first cousins. Isaac Wattwood mentioned in the deed was Adaline Chittwood's brother-in-law.
