Perdue I have this day Given granted Conveyed and Transfered with the sd Giles R. Perdue his heirs and assigns for ever a Tract of Land lying in the State of Tennessee Sumner County and on the waters of Drakes Creek of Big Barren River District (No 16) and bounded as following (to wit) Beginning in Norvels Branch and corner to Reason Perdue thence East 120 poles to a Walnut tree corner to said Reason Perdue and Wyley Perdue thence N 20 E 102 poles to a Post Oak Dinnings corner thence North crossing the Branch 106 poles a poplar and 3 white oak pointers thence S 69 W 23 poles to a white oak thence South 20 poles to the Branch to Meadows line thence S. W. up the Branch with its meanderings to the beginning containing by estimation 100 acres be the same more or less - To have and to Hold the Land with all its appertinants I do further covenant with the said G. R. Perdue that I am Lawfully seized of sd land have a good Right to convey it and that the same is unemcumbered. I do further convenant with sd G. R. Perdue for myself my heirs and assigns to warrant and defend the title to said land and every part thereof against the lawful claims or ?ing of all persons whatever In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 7 Oct 1857. Bugg Clerk of the County Court of said county Eli Perdue the donor with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowleged that he made and executed the foregoing deed of gift for the purposes therein contained Witness my hand and affix this 18 Feby 1858. Mirn Register for said county do certify that the foregoing deed of Gift and probate are duly registered and Examined at my Office in Book F.F. pages 65 & 66 this 7 day of April 1858 R. D. Mirn Regist S. Cty Additional Comments: Giles R. Perdue (1824 - 1901) son of Eli and Sally Chitwood Perdue married first in Sumner Co., TN to Mary J. Vaughn who died May 1864. He married Martha Keen in 1865 - this marriage ended in divorce. Finally he married Mary Brackin in 1871 in Sumner Co., TN. He had a total of 12 children by wife #1 and #3.
