Between James G. Wilson of the County of Sumner and State of Tennessee of the one part and John Sarver of the County and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnessed that the said James G. Wilson for and in consideration of the sum of $1416.00 to him in hand paid before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged he the said James G. Wilson hath given granted bargained and sold and by these presents hath given granted bargained and sold and by these presents bargained sell and lawfully convey and confirm unto John Sarver all that tract or parcel of land containing 472 acres, being part of a 640 acre tract orginally granted to William Pryor bearing date the 20th of May 1793 and conveyed by said Pryor to James G. Wilson July 22nd 1799 being in the County and State aforesaid on the waters of the middle fork of Drakes Creek of Big Barren on west side. Beginning at two white oaks and small hickory on the east of a small pond called the Cary Pond thence west 236 poles to a stake in the east boundary of a tract of Benjamin Sheppards thence south 330 poles to a stake thence east 236 poles to a stake thence north 320 poles to the beginning. To have and to hold the above described 472 acres of land with all the appurtanances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto him the said John Sarver his heirs Executors, and the said James G. Wilson for himself his heirs executors or administrators do hereby covenant and agree to and with the said John Sarver his heirs do forever warrant and defend the above described land and premises against the lawful claim of any person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof the said James G. Wilson hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written. Signed sealed and delivered James G. Wilson (seal) in presence acknowledged State of Tennessee Sumner County March Term 1808 The within deed from conveyance from James G. Wilson to John Sarver for 472 acres of land was duly acknowledged by the said Jas. G. Wilson and ordered to registeration. Let it be registered. David Shelby clerk of Sumner County Court Registered and examined 28 June 1808 H. L. Douglas D.A.S.C. Additional Comments: John Sarver was the son of Casper Sarver a Swiss emigrant. Casper left a will in Botetourt Co., VA in 1782 naming three sons: John, Henry and Casper. John and Henry Sarver moved to Sumner Co., TN. John and his wife Peggy Trollinger daughter of Jacob Henrich Trollinger came to Sumner Co., TN in the spring of 1808 with six of their seven children. According to a family tradition, John Sarver died at 105 years after drinking dye he mistook for whiskey. He is thought to be buried in a family cemetery located on his son Jeremiah Sarver's Belvidere Plantation in upper Sumner Co., TN.
