She being a resident of Sumner County State of Tennessee age eighty one years who being first duly sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Provision made by the act of Congress passed July the 4th 1836 That she is the widow of Thomas Bandy Ded'd who was a soldier of the Revolutionary War and also a Pensioner of the United States for his service in War of the Revolution and drew his pension in Nashville State of Tennessee She further declares that she was married to the said Thomas Bandy on the 12th Day of October in the year 1777. That her husband the aforesaid Thomas Bandy died on the 8th Day of October 1835 and that she has remained a widow ever since that period as will more fully appear by reference to the proof hereto annexed Sworn to and subscribed before me this 12th Day of August 1837 John Groves {seal} Nancy (her X mark) Bandy Justice of the Peace I John Groves one of the acting Justices of the peace for the county of Sumner and State of Tennessee do hereby certify that I am well acquainted with Nancy Bandy widow of Thomas Bandy and Pensioner Deceased That from old age and bodily infirmity and her living at the distance of 18 miles from Gallatin the county seat she cannot travel to the courthouse without endangering her health to make this declaration in open court. State of Tennessee } SS Sumner County } On this 12th day of November 1833 personally appeared in open court before the (unreadable) of the court of pleas and quarter sessions for the county of Sumner Thomas Bandy a resident of said county of Sumner and state of Tennessee aged 85 years in hu being first duly sworn according to law, doth on his oath under the follow ing evaluation in order to obtain the benefit of the pensions made by the act of Congress passed (unreadable) 7th 1832. That he (unreadable) in the army of this United States in the years 1781 as a drafted militia man in a company com -manded by Capt ___than Richardson and served in said company for the term of three(?) months (unreadable) member of the Regiment (unreadable) a(?) collected(?) his (unreadable) that they(?) of (unreadable) Col. Avar(?) Lynch and that this (unreadable) was our John Calloway (unreadable) enlisted the service (unreadable) (unreadable) in the county of Franklin in the state of Virginia and marched to the Battle of Guilford. Appli =cant was in the Battle of Guilford a (unreadable) after the battle was (rest of line unreadable) *************** until his three months had expired when he was discharged by our (unreadable) Talbot which discharge applicant has lost or mislaid. Applicant further states that he entered the service as a drafted militia man for a (unreadable) term of three months in a company commanded by our William Luftrich(?) on the 1st of August 1781 as (unreadable) as he entered the service the the company to which applicant belonged was (unreadable) directly to York town. Appli= =cant was in the regiment at York town and remained until after the British surrendered. After the Battle was ended applicant got a discharge which was given by our Serg(?) Smith third Sargent. Applicant knows of no person living by whom he can (unreadable) past of activated service nor has he any documentary evidence in his possession by which he can establish the facts and (unreadable) in his petition. 1st applicant was born in the county of Cumberland in the state of Virginia in the year 1748. 2nd he has a ward of his age at his residence in this county. 3rd He was living in the county of Fran= =klin in the state of Virginia when called into service. He resided in Botty cott county in the state of Virginia after the war and about 11(?) years ago he moved to the county of Sumner in the state of Tennessee where he has been residing since ************** since and where he now resides. 4. He entered the service as a drafted militia man. 5th The names of the Regular officers and all the officers which names he can recall have already been stated 6. He received two discharges one given by (unreadable) Talbot and the other by Serg Smith. These discharges have been lost. 7th He states the names of the Rev Abraham Martin and Bartholomew Osburn residing in the neighborhood of applicant who will certify as to his character for (unreadable) and their belief of his service as a soldier of the Revolution. He hereby relinquishes every claim what= =ever to a pension or annuity except this (unreadable), and he declares that his name is no on the pension rolls of any agency in any state. Abraham Martin aged 59 years a clergyman residing in the county of Sumner and Barthomew Osburn aged 58 years residing in the same county hereby certify that (unreadable) (unreadable) well acqu= =ainted with Thomas Bandy who has subscribed and sworn to the above declaration; that (unreadable) believes him to be 85 years of age; and that the said Osburn further certify that he is (unreadable) and he lived in the neighbor= =enhood (unreadable) (unreadable) he resides to have been a soldier of the Revolution and that his (unreadable) in that (unreadable) and the said Abraham Martin also certifies that he has heard applicant say that he was a soldier in the Revo- =lution, and that he as also heard *************** the said Osburn makes this sworn statement who resides in the (unreadable) neighborhood of applicant and he further certifies the said Osburn is a man of (unreadable) and that he would give full faithe and (unreadable) to any statement that he would make upon oath and the said Abraham Martin further certifies that (unreadable) (unreadable) in the opinion that applicant was a soldier of the Revolution and served as stated.
