He was born in Chesterfield County, Va., Oct. 14, 1751. He entered the service under Capt. William Lewis in Dinwiddie County, Va. He married in Halifax County, N. C., in 1793, Elizabeth who was born 1770, died July 28, 1844. She applied for widow's pension in Sumner County. William Key died Jan. 18, 1834.
