He was a lieutenant in 1779 and a captain in 1781, in North Carolina troops. He was born in Granville County. N. C., in 1753. He died in 1800 or 1806 in Sumner County. He married Susan Mitchell in 1781. She was born 1765, died 1839, and was the daughter of David Mitchell.
