The four men, Charles Whitson, Charles Perdue, Jim Garrett and Ed Smartt were arrested several weeks ago by federal officiers after the capture of a still in Sumner County. Additional Comments: Charles (Charlie) Perdue born 1892 Sumner Co., TN to George and Susie Cochran Perdue had married 1919 Charity Mae Whitson. They had two children when Charlie was arrested for "making moonshine". He received a one year sentence in federal prison but was released early. Charles (Charlie) Whitson was son of George and Alice Gant Whitson and the first cousin of Charity Mae Whitson.
