Randolph Cemetery, Tipton County, Tennessee

Location: McClerkin Lane, off McClerkin Road, at Randolph Road, north of Hwy 59
in Tipton County, north of Memphis, TN.  

Randolph, named for John Randolph, pre-dates Memphis' beginnings and was the
original set of bluffs on the Mississippi River intended to be the major point
of commerce between St. Louis & New Orleans pre-1830s. It was the site of Civil
War action (Fort Randolph).  In 1862 the town was burned to the ground.  The
Post Office, established in 1827 was open from 1828 to 1932. The town was
located on the Second Chickasaw Bluff, a little below the mouth of Big Hatchie
River.  The cemetery is one of the oldest in West Tennessee. For more
