Obituary, Daniel R. Whitley 

      At his residence in Tipton County, Tennessee on the evening of the 16th 
instant, Capt. Daniel R. Whitley, aged 55 years.  Capt. Whitley was a native of 
Johnston County, N. C., removed to the Western District of Tennessee at an 
early day, where, by his untiring energies and superior business qualities, he 
had arisen to the very first rank among the planters of his county.  He was an 
affectionate husband, a tender father, a generous neighbor and a faithful 
friend.  His loss will be deeply felt by a large family and numerous 
acquaintances.

NOTE: The last line in the obituary, referencing the newspaper, was inserted so 
that the North Carolina papers would pick it up and copy it in their papers.

Daniel R. Whitley was my 2nd great-grandfater.
