It hung in the family cotton office until it closed in 1985 with head shots of the 4 generations of ""Flowers Cotton"". They were Papa, as we called him, his father--Thomas Robinson Flowers, my father--George Howard Flowers, Jr. and my brother--George Howard Flowers III. George Howard Flowers, Sr.:: B> 25 Dec 1879 Tipton County, TN at Oaklawn the home of his maternal grandfather, George C Howard Son of Thomas Robinson Flowers and Ann Jane Howard D> 17 Aug 1956 Covington, Tipton County, TN of cancer at his home on Liberty Ave. M> 03 Feb 1903 Allie Barbara Shoaf daughter of John A Shoaf and Sallie Harris He went by G. H. Flowers. His spouse was called Allie. There were 3 children born to G.H. and Allie Flowers, Sr George Howard Flowers, Jr Sara Ann Flowers [Mrs. Hugh S Johnston] Lyna Shoaf Flowers [Mrs. James Shields Matthews] George C Howard was a Cotton Factor in Memphis, Tn after the Civil War. His son-in-law Thomas Robinson Flowers started a family Cotton Business in Covington. G H Flowers went into the cotton business with his father, Thomas Robinson.
