UNICOI COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Hiram Love Bailey, 24 Oct 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Hiram L. Bailey Hiram Love Bailey, 89, Old Gray Station Road, Gray, died Friday, October 24, 2003, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Mountain Home. Mr. Bailey was a native of Unicoi County, having lived in Gray since 1986. He was a son of the late James D. and Essie Bailey and was also preceded in death by an infant son, Frankie Bailey, and by two brothers and three sisters. Mr. Bailey was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the European Theatre. He retired from Hoover Ball as a mechanic in 1978 after 19 years of service and was a member of Erwin Church of Christ, where he had served as an elder for several years. Survivors include his wife, Rachel Peters Bailey; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Carl M. and Margaret Bailey, Johnson City, Luther W. "Joe" and Jeanne Bailey and Alvin Bailey, all of Gray, Jess C. and Marylyn Bailey and Raymond and Faye Bailey, all of Erwin; three daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia L. and Gene Bailey and Hazel L. and Michael Jeter, all of Gray, and Marie N. and Charles Nave, Blountville; and a step-brother and sister-in- law, Milton and Nellie Cole, Bakersville, N.C. Twenty-two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Monday, October 27, from the Erwin Church of Christ, 710 Rock Creek Road, Erwin, with Minister Clayton Winters, Minister Phillip Mullins and Minister Dan Bailey officiating. Music will be provided by the Erwin Church of Christ Congregation. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, at Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and are requested to assemble at the church by 7:30 p.m. Monday and at the cemetery by 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The family, ministers and friends may gather at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Bailey will be placed in the church by 3 p.m. Monday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. Friends may also call at the residence, 348 Old Gray Station Road, Gray, and at the residence of a son and daughter-in-law, Jess C. and Marylyn Bailey, 904 Mountain View Road, Erwin.
