UNICOI COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Henry Clay Bailey Sr., 9 Mar 2005 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Henry Clay Bailey Sr., 89, formerly of Maple Drive, North Augusta, S.C., died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Mr. Bailey was a native of Unicoi County and the son of the late Landon and Margaret Higgins Bailey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Graybeal Bailey, a daughter-in-law, Anne Williams Bailey, and two brothers, Hatley Bailey and Bob Bailey. Mr. Bailey was a member of Westside Christian Church, Martinez, Ga. He retired from Dupont Savannah River Site, Aiken, S.C. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, H. Clay and Joan Bailey, Elizabethton, Charles A. and Nancy Bailey, Mauldin, S.C., and Michael W. and Debra Bailey, Aiken, S.C.; 10 granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Ricki and Jeff Dykes, Olathe, Kansas, Jenni and Jeff Carowan, Lewisville, N.C., Lori and Tim Shields, Elizabethton, Melanie and Clay Sprouse and Stephanie and Charles Reece, all of Simpsonville, S.C., Ashley Hixon, Mauldin, S.C., Kari and David Meldrum, Lugoff, S.C., Wendy and Greg Merry, Evans, Ga., Christy and Brent Moore, North Augusta, S.C., and Nikki Cowart, Aiken, S.C.; 21 great- grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Annabelle and Clarence Wampler, Mineral, Va., Gladys Ledford, Knoxville, Pansy and David Cash, Bluff City, and Bea and Homer Foster, Savannah, Ga.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Ralph and Pat Graybeal, Johnson City; a special friend, Inez Owens, Belvedere, S.C.; and longtime family friend, Mrs. Juanita Johnson, Augusta, Ga. The funeral service for Mr. Bailey will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, March 11, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Dr. Don Marshall and Mr. John Smith, ministers, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Joel Crisp, Gail Campbell and Frieda Winters. A graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 12, at Pineview Memorial Park in North Augusta, S.C., with Mr. James Joiner, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or at other times at the home of a son, H. Clay Bailey, 121 Harold Estep Road, Elizabethton. Active pallbearers will be Tim Shields, Landon Shields, Jeff Dykes, Jeff Carowan, Greg Merry, Brent Moore, David Meldrum, Clay Sprouse and Charles Reece.
