Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, following a lenghty illness. Mr. Briggs was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a son of the late Lee and Mary J. Hardin Briggs. He was a World War Two Veteran having served in the European Theater. Mr. Briggs retired in 1986 as quality control supervisor from Mor-Flo Industries after 20 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his wife, Nettie L. Tilson Briggs, in 1986, and an infant son, Jimmy Michael, and five brothers. Survivors include: one son, Larry Briggs, Flag Pond; two sisters, Kate Gentry, Flag Pond, and Faye James, Newport; one grandson, Daniel Todd Bridges, Flag Pond; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Briggs is interred at Evergreen Cemetery with military honors rendered by the Kingsport Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Number 3382.
