She was an Erwin, Tennessee native and a daughter of the late Oscar Carlyle and Thelma Lee Baxter Clouse. Mrs. Byrd was a homemaker. She attended the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Hatfield, and one sister. Survivors, in addition to her daughter, include her husband, Marshall Byrd; one daughter, Pam Nielander, Lake Placid, Florida; three stepdaughters, Brenda Hartley, Unicoi, and Sabra Hobson and Pam Snyder, both of Marion, North Carolina; two stepsons, Sherrell Byrd, Spruce Pine, North Carolina, and Jerrell Byrd, Johnson City, Tennessee; one sister, Joyce Lewis, Erwin, Tennessee; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
