"Buddy" Combs, Senior Colonel Henry G. "Buddy" Combs, 74, of Kissammee, Florida, died Friday, January 16, 1998 at his residence. Col. Combs was a native of Erwin but had lived in Florida for 15 years. He was the son of Mamie Combs, Erwin, and the late Clint Combs. He retired from the United States Air Force as a colonel with 41 years of service. He served in the Korean War as a fighter pilot and flew a DC-9 Medevac Transport during the Vietnam War. Before retirement, Col. Combs was on duty with the Air National Guard in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: four daughters, Becky Renfro, Erwin, Regina Felton, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Leonore Hopper, Woodbridge, Virginia, and Laura Parker, Charlotte, North Carolina; three sons, Henry G. Combs, Junior, Kissammee, Gordon Combs, Fredricksburg, Virginia, and Russell Combs, Woodbridge, Virginia; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Col. Combs in interred in Quinco, Virginia.
