Grindstaff Edna Mae Chesser Grindstaff, 74, 1262 Dry Creek Road, Elizabethton, died Saturday, April 28, 2007, at Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Unicoi County, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Edith Jarrett Chesser. She had lived most of her life in Carter County. Mrs. Grindstaff was a retired employee of Levi Strauss, Johnson City. She was a member of Lyons Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Hoover Grindstaff, October 16, 2006, and three sisters, Peggy Graybeal, Lois Laws and Ruth Humphrey. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Kay Grindstaff of Telford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Joe Cole and Wanda and John Randolph, all of Elizabethton; two brothers, Sam Chesser and Bobby Jarrett, both of Elizabethton; and six grandchildren, Laura Buchanan, Justin Randolph, Jamie Cole, Joe Cole, Crystal Wilson and Candace Holland. Six great- grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Grindstaff will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, April 30, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Norman Loveless officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, in the Lyons Chapel Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, will be David Humphrey, Troy Graybeal, Michael Graybeal, Steven Buchanan, John Randolph, Justin Randolph, Joe L. Cole, Joe W. Cole and Paul White. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence.
