UNICOI COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Madge M. Hopson, 3 Jan 2004 ----¤¤¤¤---- Mrs. Madge M. Hopson, 82, Scott Road, Unicoi, died Saturday, January 3, 2004 at the Center on Aging & Health, Erwin. Mrs. Hopson was a native of Yancey County, N.C., having lived most of her life in Unicoi County. She was a daughter of the late Charles and Myra Wright Williams and was also preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Hopson, three brothers, Silas Williams, Vernon Williams and Sam Williams, and a sister, Althea Bryant. Mrs. Hopson retired from Industrial Garment in 1980 after 30 years of service and was also a homemaker. She attended Buffalo Valley Free Will Baptist Church and was a member of the Clinchfield Senior Adult Center. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Hopson and special friend, Woody Powers, Unicoi; two sisters, Ethel Bryant, Erwin, and Maude Morton, Johnson City; a grandson, Jamie Hopson; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Dee Dee and Robert Bogart and Debbie and Jim Britt; and two great-grandchildren, Tanya Bogart and Adam Bogart. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, January 4, from the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Todd McLaughlin and the Rev. Alan King officiating. Music will be provided by Tracy McLaughlin. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, January 5, at Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers and are requested to assemble at the funeral home by 7:30 p. m. Sunday. The family, ministers, friends and pallbearers may gather at the funeral home by 9:30 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the residence of a granddaughter, Mrs. Robert (Dee Dee) Bogart, 144 Fishery Loop Road, Erwin.
