UNICOI COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Jack Taylor Horton, 28 Oct 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Jack T. Horton Mr. Jack Taylor Horton, age 85, Jack Horton Road, Unicoi, died Tuesday, October 28, 2003 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Horton was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and the son of the late James Taylor and Polly Birchfield Horton. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Mr. Horton was formerly employed by Northern Electric. He was a member of Unicoi Christian Church. Mr. Horton was a member of the Unicoi Masonic Lodge No. 681 F&AM. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Landers Horton, in 1961; his second wife, Bonnie Herman Horton, in 2002; a son, James Michael Horton, in 1992, and a sister, Ella Horton Johnson. Survivors include three daughters, Alice Horton Kelley, of San Francisco, California; Willa Dean Jacobs, of Cary, North Carolina, and Janet Winn, of Unicoi; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Horton will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2003 from the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Minister Brady Augustine will officiate. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Graveside services and interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2003 in Horton Family Cemetery, Unicoi. Full military grave rites will be rendered by the Kingsport VFW Post #3382. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers and are requested to assemble at the funeral home by 7:30 p.m. Friday. Family, minister, friends and pallbearers may gather at the funeral home by 10 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 121 Jack Horton Rd., Unicoi.
