Howell A memorial service for Robert C. Howell, who died on Saturday, February 14, 1998 in Leesburg, FL, will be held on Sunday April 26 at 2 p.m. at the Green Mountain Presbyterian Church, Green Mountain, NC. The service will be conducted by James Byrd, a former student of Mr. Howell's and the Reverend Gregory Howell, a nephew. Mr. Howell was the son of the late Arcemus and Bonnie Renfro Howell of Green Mountain. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Philip J. Howell. Mr. Howell was a member of Green Mountain Presbyterian Church. He was a retired educator, having worked in the Rockingham, Yancey and McDowell school systems. In addition to teaching, he directed many drama productions, sponsored the yearbook, and many other activities and clubs in the schools. Mr. Howell was a lifelong memebr of the professional organizations, N.C.A.E. and N.E.A. Survivors include: two sisters, Elizabeth Sams, Mars Hill, NC, and Peggy Brinkley, Bakersville, NC; and two brothers, Ward Howell, Erwin and Royce Howell of Canton, NC.
