Mrs. King was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Andy and Zettie Chandler Foster. She was a seamstress with Industrial Garment, having retired in 1987 after 32 years of service. Mrs. King was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Clarence E. King; three sons, James W. King, Jonesborough, Tennessee, Alvin W. King and Gary W. King, both of Erwin; four brothers, Raymond Foster, William A. Foster, William H. "Billy" Foster, and Robert E. Foster, all of Erwin; six sisters, Mae Hughes, Gladys Bailey, Edna Lloyd, Dorothy Baucom, all of Erwin; Francis Ingle, Maumee, Ohio, and Lorraine Simmons, Lakeview, Oregon; eight grandchildren, Jeff King, Melissa Griffith, LeeAnn King, Leslee King, Julie Rainbolt, L.J. King, Nathan King, and Christopher King; one great-grandson, Anthony Rainbolt; and several nieces and nephews.
