UNICOI COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Alta E. King, 17 Dec 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Mrs. Alta E. King, age 78, 2308 Marbleton Rd., Unicoi, died Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at Indian Path Medical Center, Kingsport. Mrs. King was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Mary L. Hughes. She was a homemaker. Mrs. King was a member of Marbleton Freewill Baptist Church and attended Spring Creek Baptist Church, Buladean, N.C. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. King, in 1991, and a sister, Pauline "Polly" King. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald "Jerry" and Mary E. King; Larry and Nora King, and Gary and Amy King, all of Unicoi; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Rev. Bob McCurry, of Buladean, N.C.; Karen and Andre McGrady, of Bland, Va., and Sandra and Philip Morris, of Johnson City; one sister and brother-in-law, Etta and Herman Radford, Unicoi; three grandsons; six granddaughters; three great grandsons, and two great granddaughters. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. King will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2003 from the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Arnold Bud Pate and Reverend Alan King will officiate. Music will be selected. Graveside services and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2003 in Roselawn Memory Gardens, Johnson City. Dustin Morris, Bryan McCurry, Israel McCurry, Kevin Wyatt, Howie Coleman, Chris Stephenson, Frank King and Joe Radford will serve as pallbearers. Mike Radford, Rodney Stephenson, Jeff King, Greg King, Dr. Stanley Hodges and the ICU staff of Indian Path Medical Center will serve as honorary pallbearers. All pallbearers are requested to assemble at the funeral home by 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at the cemetery by 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Family, minister and friends may gather at the cemetery by 1:50 p.m. Sunday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and other times at the residence, 2308 Marbleton Rd., Unicoi, or at the residence of the children.
