Pierce William Earl Pierce, 80, 124 Witcher Lane, Rock Creek Community, Erwin, died Tuesday, October 2, 2001, at the Center for Aging and Health. Mr. Pierce was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Joseph and Creola Oliver Pierce. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, five brothers and a sister. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Pierce had been employed by Jones Electric for several years. He was a member of Rock Creek Ruritan and a member of Rock Creek Presbyterian Church, where he served as Deacon and Elder and was a Sunday School Teacher. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Bernice Wilson Pierce; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Ann Marie Pierce, Del Ray, Fla.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Pierce, Erwin, and Frances and Richard Estepp, Elizabethton; two brothers, Lawrence Pierce and Aaron Pierce, both of Elizabethton; three sisters, Ivory Pierce and Cynthia Ensor, both of Elizabethton, and Gretchen Miller, Gray; and grandchildren, Jeffery Estep, Carey, N.C., Dawn and Mark Bishop, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Dana and Chris Stanford, Harleysville, Pa. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. Valley Funeral Home, 1085 N. Main Avenue, Erwin, (743) 9187, is in charge of arrangements. www.Funeral-Plans.com/Valley PIERCE -- Graveside services for William Earl Pierce, 80, 124 Witcher Lane, Rock Creek Community, Erwin, who died Tuesday, October 2, 2001, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, October 4, at Caldwell Springs Church Cemetery, Stoney Creek Community, Elizabethton, with the Rev. Charlie Murphy officiating. Vocal selections will be provided by Matt Dugger. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Sunday School Class of Rock Creek Presbyterian Church. Those attending the graveside service will meet at Caldwell Springs Church Cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Rock Creek Presbyterian Church Youth Ministry c/o Rock Creek Presbyterian Church, 800 Rock Creek Road, Erwin, Tenn. 37650.
