Mrs. Pierce was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late John R. and Flora Oliver Wilson., She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Pierce, October 2, 2001, and by a brother and three sisters. Mrs. Pierce had lived in Erwin for a number of years. She was a member of Rock Creek Presbyterian Church, Erwin. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Freddie S. and Anna Marie Pierce, Delray Beach, Fla.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Pierce, of the home, and Frances and Richard Estep, Elizabethton; a sister, Mary Alice Brown, Holt, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jeffery L. Estep, Cary, N.C., Dawn Bishop and her husband Mark, Lauderhill, Fla., and Dana Stanford and her husband Chris, Harleysville, Pa.; several nieces and nephew; several sisters and brothers-in-law; and two special friends, Nell Wagner and Pansy Shelly. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. PIERCE -- Graveside services for Mrs. Bernice Pierce, 79, 124 Witcher Lane, Erwin, who died Wednesday, January 30, 2002, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 2, in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Charlie Murphy officiating. Interment will follow the service. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. Friends may register their presence at the funeral home Friday or Saturday morning. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Richard Estep, 106 Nelson Drive, Elizabethton. To those who prefer, memorials may be made to the Building Fund, Rock Creek Presbyterian Church, 800 Rock Creek Road, Erwin, Tenn. 37650.
